Youth Week 2020 - Let's Celebrate Rangatahi!

14 May 2020

Held every year, Youth Week is a nationwide festival of events organised by young New Zealanders to celebrate the talents, passion and achievements of rangatahi. The week also recognises the youth workers, youth service providers and others working with and for young people.

As chosen by young people, Youth Week 2020 is celebrating the theme “E korero ana mātou. E whakarongo ana koutou? | We’re speaking. Are you listening?” this year. Youth Week 2020 is being held from 9 - 17 May 2020! Youth Week is coordinated by Ara Taiohi, with the support of the Ministry of Youth Development.

Traditionally, rangatahi have organised events in their communities for other young people. This year, COVID-19 has impacted the usual ways that this nationwide festival is delivered.

But rangatahi are rising to the challenge: from online competitions and quiz nights, to art and fitness challenges, through to virtual get-togethers and circus performances, young people are determined to connect with their peers in positive, meaningful ways.
