YMCA Masterton
YMCA
Masterton is a charitable trust which was established in 1862. Their
core values are caring, respect, honesty and responsibility. Through
their programmes with people of all backgrounds they try to make a
positive difference in people's lives and the community.
YMCA Masterton activities include OSCAR and holiday programmes, recreation and education courses.
Ministry of Youth Development Funded Programmes
The Ministry of Youth Development’s Services for Young People Fund
supports the YMCA Masterton to deliver one New Zealand Conservation
Corps programme. The provider has developed a programme that responds
to the local needs of young people. They offer numeracy and
literacy, life skills and confidence building. They work closely
with the local office of Work & Income and have secured some
seasonal work for participants. This is used as a supervised work
experience component of the programme, which has the potential to help
young people into permanent work.

YMCA Wanganui
YMCA
Wanganui is an autonomous, not-for-profit organisation geared to
support the families and youth of Wanganui and district. Wanganui YMCA
prides itself on being a proactive contributor to making a difference
to the community.
The YMCA promotes the family values of caring, respect, honesty,
responsibility and enjoyment of Life. The focus of family and youth is
at the heart of the YMCA’s endeavour to provide a safe, secure and
caring environment. The YMCA aims to help build strong kids, strong
families and strong communities.
Ministry of Youth Development Funded Programmes
The Ministry of Youth Development’s Services for Young People Fund
supports the YMCA Wanganui to deliver three programmes in
Wanganui/Marton and Palmerston North.
A Specialist Youth Service Corps programme is delivered in Palmerston
North for young people entering the youth justice system. The
other programme is a New Zealand Conservation Corps programme delivered
in Manawatu and Rangatikei. Both programmes do a number of
joint activities in addition to specific components and skills for its
group members.

The Salvation Army Employment Plus (Hawera)
The
Salvation Army Employment Plus provides education, ongoing practical
care and support to assist the less advantaged achieve employment and
develop a career. The training programmes provide a range of quality
education and employment focussed initiatives, which aim to bring about
a sustained change in the life style and attitude for the individual
and community.

Taranaki Environmental Education Trust
Taranaki
Environmental Education Trust is a charitable trust that was set up in
1992 and runs two centres. The central office is located in Inglewood
which includes an environmental centre which acts as a focal point for
schools, individuals and local communities to meet, network and
disseminate information on sustainable land use practices. The centre
at Pembroke Road, Stratford is a daily meeting point for the New
Zealand Conservation Corps, propagation unit and sustainable backyard
garden.
Ministry of Youth Development Funded Programmes
The Ministry of Youth Development’s Services for Young People Fund
supports the Taranaki Environmental Education Trust to deliver one New
Zealand Conservation Corps programme. There is a strong
environmental theme throughout this programme. Conservation is
considered important and projects are developed within the community to
show how people connect to the environment in which they live. The
surrounding area allows the provider to offer a range of challenging
recreational activities.

YMCA New Plymouth
The
New Plymouth YMCA is a charitable trust established in 1933 and this
year its 75th anniversary was celebrated. The international
organization was founded 164 years with a focus on the spiritual needs
of young men. The holistic goal of developing a person's 'Mind Body and
Spirit' is symbolised by the distinctive Y logo which is one of the
three most recognized brands in the world. The core values by which the
organization functions are: honesty, caring, respect and
responsibility.
The Youth Learning and Development department at the New Plymouth YMCA
is part of the NZ YMCA Private Training Establishment and offers
educational programmes funded by TEC, Ministry of Youth Development and
WINZ.
Ministry of Youth Development Funded Programmes
The Ministry of Youth Development’s Services for Young People Fund
supports New Plymouth YMCA to deliver one conservation corps programme
and one specialist youth service corps programme.
Y's Path at the New Plymouth YMCA reflects the changing nature and
needs of participants. The programme is varied and includes a
range of experiences designed to build up the confidence and stamina of
the students as well as impart transferrable employment skills. There
is tramping and camping, planting and work projects. Students have the
opportunity to gain unit standards in tractor and ATV driving, fencing
and chainsaw operating. There is also first aid training and
driver's licence. Running parallel with the Y's Path programme is
"kickstart into literacy and numeracy" (KILN) a programme offering unit
standards towards NCEA level 1 particularly in language and maths. This
is managed by a specialist literacy tutor funded through TEC.
Specialist Youth Services Corps is a structured programme of activities
and community service work, youth offenders are offered the opportunity
to address barriers that prevent them from engaging positively with
their families and the wider community. The aim is to change offending
behaviour and offer life skills towards further education or
employment. The KILN programme is available to participants who need
literacy and numeracy support.
