The Foundation for Young Australians - The New Work Reality (June 2018)

The transition for young people between full-time education and full-time work is increasingly uncertain. The Foundation for Young Australians’ (FYA) latest report, The New Work Reality, follows the journeys of 14,000 young people over a decade to show that half of Australia’s 25 year-olds are unable to secure full-time employment, despite 60% holding post-school qualifications. The report identifies the four most significant factors that can accelerate the transition from full-time education to full-time work, including an education that builds enterprise skills, being able to undertake relevant paid work experience, finding paid employment in a sector which is growing and an optimistic mindset.

The Outlook for Someday: Sustainability Film-making Workshops

This year's free one-day and two-day workshops are taking place throughout New Zealand from Autumn to Winter 2018. The workshops are open to young people from school years 7 to 13 (age 11 to 18), as well as teachers and youth workers who want to engage with The Outlook for Someday as a vehicle for sustainability film-making.

All participants will make short films and screen them at the end of the workshop. Each participant will also have an opportunity to develop their own story idea - one that is meaningful to them and which they could then turn into a film as an entry to the Someday Challenge. Spaces for each workshop are limited to 25 participants.

To learn more and to register, visit The Outlook for Someday’s website.
