Youth Member of Parliament (Youth MP)

Youth MPs were selected by MPs to represent them and young people from their communities at Youth Parliament 2010.

Your role as a Youth MP

Being a Youth MP is no small undertaking and is a big commitment. It is an awesome way to bring the voice of young people from your community to centre stage and get primed to be an advocate for change in your communities.

Before Youth Parliament 2010 you were expected to get out and about, and talking with as many people in your community as you could, so you could bring and represent their thoughts, hopes and concerns at Youth Parliament 2010.

During Youth Parliament 2010 you were put through your democratic paces and need to have a cool head and co-operative attitude to balance many view points.

After Youth Parliament 2010, you have your role for six months. You will meet with other Youth MPs in your region and discuss an action plan for your six-month tenure. We will support you to keep getting youth voices heard.
