Aotearoa Youth Voices - Student Decision Makers
Aotearoa Youth Voices - Student Decision Makers is aimed at supporting student decision-makers in secondary schools such as young people on student councils, and student trustees on their school Boards of Trustees.
What does the network do?
Aotearoa Youth Voices - Student Decision Makers aims to support student councils and student trustees through:
- sharing information about effective youth participation in decision-making to help them in their roles
- supporting discussion and connection with other network members through regional forums
- opportunities to receive support and training from our staff
- opportunities to have their say on government matters which affect secondary school students.
In 2009, we held regional forums and workshops with student decision makers in different parts of New Zealand. We also partnered up with the New Zealand School Trustees Association and the Ministry of Education to run some workshops for new student trustees who were elected to Boards of Trustees in September 2009.
