Social Marketing for Young People
On 22 June 2007, The Ministry of Youth Development hosted a seminar entitled 'Social Marketing for Young People'.
Dr Richard Griffiths, Research and Insights Manager at 18 Ltd – Youth
Research (now Synovate) presented on the broad topic of “Social Marketing for
Young People”.
Richard is responsible for the research and generation of data that
enables him to “decode” or better understand how New Zealand’s youth
think, feel and live their everyday lives.
Before working at Synovate Richard did a PhD in Sociology at the University
of Auckland which primarily focused on the media representation of
youth “subcultures” and the fear that youth culture can generate
amongst the adult population.
He has lectured on a wide range of topics at Auckland University that
include youth fashion, popular music, terrorism, and sport and had
several chapters published in academic textbooks.
