Improving outcomes for young people
The Ministry of Youth Development, in partnership with Kaye McLaren, offered a two-day professional development opportunity for service managers, policy advisors and youth development practitioners.
It was a chance to learn more about what the effective
interventions with young people are and how you can ensure the services you
provide are making a difference.
The training was ideal for those who are responsible for commissioning services, monitoring outcomes
or managing programmes and are serious about wanting to improve
outcomes for young people.
The training included:
Day 1 (Thursday 1 February)
What works
- What kind of services need to be in place to address offending issues?
- What is the research saying about effective interventions?
- How do you turn research into practice?
Day 2 (Friday 2 February)
Youth Offending Services Effectiveness Checklist
Following intensive international research and consultation, Kaye
McLaren, What Works Consulting, has designed and developed the Youth Offending Services
Effectiveness Checklist. This is a practical and accessible
tool for assessing the effectiveness of services and programmes aimed
at young people engaged in offending behaviour.
