"How to turn a young person into a serious adult offender in ten easy steps"

Principal Youth Court Judge Andrew Becroft will discuss ten issues facing young people today. He will also address specific issues relating to female offending and his general observations about the present and forthcoming contexts for youth justice in New Zealand.

The Ministry of Youth Development invites you to attend the next instalment in its seminar series. Presented by Principal Youth Court Judge Andrew Becroft.

Born in Kuala Lumpar, Malyasia and educated at Rongotai College Wellington, Judge Becroft graduated from Auckland University in 1981 with a BA/LLB (Hons) degree.

In 1996 he assisted with the establishment of the Mangere Community Law Centre. In 1993, he worked as a criminal barrister in South Auckland until his appointment in 1996 to the District Court bench in Wanganui. He was appointed Principal Youth Court Judge in June 2001.

Married with three children aged thirteen, eleven and seven years, Judge Becroft is a keen sports watcher and a strong advocate of youth issues.
