An issue I feel strongly about:
The current means tested student allowance system. I am facing the
prospects of university and the student loan system next year. While I
am happy that these loans are now interest free I disagree with the
student allowance system. I cannot get a student allowance because my
parents earn over the threshold however they cannot afford to help me
and I have to get a loan. I feel that every student in NZ should
get the same amount of help from the government (through a student
allowance) regardless of our parents' incomes.
