An issue I feel strongly about:
Youth Gangs
As Youth MP for Mangere in 2007 I am particularly aware of the role
that youth gangs are playing within my local community. I believe
that the disruption caused by such wannabees is largely due to our
failure to effectively take ‘ownership’ of serious issues that many
youth are facing. By implementing the development of youth and
groups (such as Otara’s 274 programme) and encouraging the strengthening
of family values, we may look to curtail the popularity of such
negative groups. I look forward to discussing issues such as this
with various other MPs later this year.
