Danielle Duffield
|
| Age: |
17
|
| Occupation/Education: |
High School Student - Epsom Girls Grammar
|
| Why interested in being part of the Youth Press Gallery |
I am passionate about politics, journalism and above all, am
passionate about youth. I am also a strong believer in using the media
to unify individuals and promote positive change within society.
|
| Relevant experience: |
I am highly involved in a range of political and
cultural activities that have helped me to develop skills that would
make me a suitable press gallery reporter. Culturally, my involvements
in debating and speech competitions for six years have taught me many
effective oral communication and persuasion skills and I would be
confident in communicating my ideas fluently if I was to be involved in
media interviews. My involvements as a Youth Voice Advocate
for the Ministry of Youth Developmnent in 2006 and in Auckland Youth City Council in
2007 have also given me valuable experience in interacting with my
peers and communicating their viewpoints onto higher authorities,
including through use of the media.

|
| Age: |

| Occupation/Education: |
Web editor/Online Journalist – Waikato Times
|
| Why interested in being part of the Youth Press Gallery |
I want to be part of the Youth Press Gallery so I can
use the skills and experience I absorb while in Wellington and apply
them to my line of work. Coming out of study it became
evident that every employer seems to be looking for experienced
employees yet isn't prepared to give them the chance. This
opportunity is important to me and I will make the most out of every
resource offered.
|
| Relevant experience: |
I have just finished a bachelor of communication at
WINTEC and have started working for the Waikato Times as a Web
editor/Online Journalist. I also have a Diploma in
Journalism. I am inquisitive, sceptical and have a drive to
succeed. I will go the extra mile for a story and do what it
takes to produce an honest unbiased, informative piece of writing.

| Why interested in being part of the Youth Press Gallery |
Being a member of Youth Press Gallery would help me
