Consultation on the Strategy
Consultation on what should be in the Youth Development Strategy Aotearoa ran from 24 April 2001 to 30 June 2001.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs held 26 consultation meetings and group
discussions throughout the country using local networks with:
- adults who work with young people or on youth issues
- young people
- parents/caregivers.
There
were 160 responses from adults and agencies to the discussion document
and approximately 1,200 secondary school-aged young people involved in
preparing responses received to the discussion document and
consultation pamphlet:
- Supporting the Positive Development of Young People in New Zealand – a discussion document
- Helping Government Get it Right – a youth consultation pamphlet.

Summary
analysis reports of the responses from adults and agencies and from
secondary school-aged young people are available from the related
documents.
