Abel Tasman Educational Trust
Abel
Tasman Educational Trust (ATET) is a charitable trust that was
established in 1988. It has been registered with the New Zealand
Qualifications Authority since 1992 as a Private Training Establishment
and has offered accredited training since 1995. This training provides
an excellent foundation for higher education or employment. ATET is
actively involved in fostering strong community networks and providing
links with employers and industries that enable comprehensive pathways
to employment.
Ministry of Youth Development Funded Programmes
The Ministry of Youth Development’s Services for Young People Fund
supports Abel Tasman Educational Trust to deliver one programme. This
is a varied and comprehensive programme which guides young people into
work opportunities or further education or training. Due to the
location the outdoor element of the programme offers a range of
challenging recreational opportunities.

supports Buller Community Development Company to deliver one programme.
This programme is a mix of conservation and community projects.
The provider offers a range of challenging recreational activities and
life skills.

Whenua Iti Outdoor Pursuits Centre
Whenua
Iti is an outdoor education centre that encourages, through the unique
culture of Whenua Iti Trust, the holistic development of individuals.
It also exists to empower people, particularly youth, to make new
choices. They provide exceptional group experiences in the outdoors, so
that individuals can build relationships with the land, themselves,
each other and life.
Ministry of Youth Development Funded Programmes
The Ministry of Youth Development’s Services for Young People Fund
supports Whenua Iti Outdoor Pursuits Centre to deliver one programme.
This programme is normally delivered each year between October and
April. They offer a comprehensive programme and are able to offer
work experience opportunities in the mix of the general programme
content. Due to its locality there is a good variety of outdoor
opportunities that participants can experience.
