Improving the rights of children and young people in New Zealand (2004)

If you’re under 18, your human rights are listed in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCROC). This booklet provides a quick overview of the topics covered.

0.7.5.1 Improving the rights.jpgBy ratifying UNCROC, New Zealand has agreed to make sure these rights are respected. Almost every country in the world has ratified UNCROC.

Every five years, these countries have to report back to a special UN Committee to make sure they’re doing the best possible job of protecting your human rights.

The Ministry of Youth Development has produced two publications:

  • the full work programme in an A4 sized booklet
  • a handy foldout leaflet aimed specifically at young people, which summarises the programme.
